Government considers measures to boost EV uptake

The Government has announced today (September 9) it is considering a series of measures to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) uptake. These include charge points installed at popular destinations such as supermarkets and tourist sites, consistent and clear public signage for drivers on UK roads, and guidance to local authorities on painting EV parking spaces green.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has called on government to commit to significant long-term incentives for electric vehicle (EV) purchase and binding targets on charging infrastructure, as a new survey suggests almost half of UK motorists don’t feel ready to make the switch by 2035. The call was made as more than
